Education

I completed my Bachelors of Science in Education and received my certification to teach Pre-k -grade 6 in 1989 from Eastern Connecticut State University.  I also have an associates degree from Manchester Communitiy College which I completed in 1984.  In 1996 I recieved my Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology from Southern Connecticut State University.



Experience

I began my career as a Speech Language Pathologist in 1996 and received my Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) in 1997 while working for Core Rehabilitation, Inc. I worked as a Speech Language Pathologist in hospitals and in various rehabilitation centers in Connecticut from 1996 to 2001. I also worked with the Birth to 3 population for the state of Connecticut during this time.  I provided speech and language services for children and adults with a variety of disabilities such as stroke, Parkinson disease, cancer, diabetes and Cerebral Palsy. and have had experience working with swallowing and feeding disorders.  In 2001, I worked for the Tolland Board of Education as a Speech Language Pathologist providing services for itinerant/preschool through grade 4 students.  In 2004-2005 I was employed by Eastconn as an SLP and worked in the Willimantic School System in a variety of preschool/inclusion programs. I have been employed by the Voluntown Board of Education as a full time Speech and Language Pathologist since 2005.  I have had the opportunity to provide speech and language services to children from preschool through high school age and have experience working with a variety of disorders and disabilities including articulation, language, fluency, voice, Appraxia, Autism, and Down Syndrome Disorders.
